Tasks
- Find publicly accessible Japanese PDFs and record their origins
- Identify and bound meaningful regions; assign component types and reading order
- Link regions to parent components such as figures or tables
- Transcribe printed and handwritten text exactly
- Record page metadata, including language, type, source, dimensions and flags
- Review another Japanese expert’s work end-to-end
Requirements
- Native Japanese speaker with command of kanji, hiragana and katakana
- Professional experience in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation or editorial work
- Character-level accuracy, prioritizing precision over speed
- Systematic application of a taxonomy across documents
- Comfort with vertical text and multi-column layouts
Nice to have
- Experience with AI training data annotation, labeling or bilingual evaluation
- Transcription and localization skills, including MTPE, subtitling or OCR correction
- Document production experience such as typesetting, copy-editing or proofreading
- Knowledge of Unicode normalization and Japanese input methods
