Holcim hires a Process Data Scientist in Zug to develop and deploy AI solutions for cement-process optimization. The role focuses on kiln and thermal efficiency, fuel consumption, alternative fuels and CO2 reduction across Plants of Tomorrow.
Tasks
- Design, tune and validate hybrid Machine Learning models for calciner and kiln optimization
- Develop predictive soft sensors and multi-variable target recommenders for process control
- Predict operational hazards using deep learning, time-series forecasting and probabilistic models
- Manage model lifecycles, including feature engineering, deployment, tuning and retraining
- Integrate explainable AI metrics and reason codes into operator dashboards
- Support global rollout of P-PREDICT through plant onboarding, commissioning and knowledge transfer
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Control or equivalent
- 3+ years in applied Machine Learning and Data Science for heavy-industry process optimization
- 2+ years productizing and scaling ML models in Cloud and EDGE production environments
- Expertise in anomaly detection, time-series forecasting, regression, probabilistic modeling and classification
- Strong mathematics and process-control background, including heat and mass transfer and PID/MPC
- High proficiency in Python, R and SQL; experience with ML libraries and production data pipelines
- Experience with data platforms, ETL/ELT, industrial time-series data, visualization, explainable AI and cloud ML

- C3.ai or equivalent enterprise AI framework certification
- 2+ years in industrial change management, coaching and technical knowledge transfer
- Distributed data processing and scalable ML platforms
- Familiarity with batch and streaming data architectures and MLOps
