Eawag is hiring three PhD candidates in Kastanienbaum for a four-year SNF-funded project with researchers at Eawag and partner universities. The projects study evolution, community assembly and ecosystem function in lakes of Southern Greenland.
Tasks
- Study copepod phenotypic and genetic variation across lakes
- Conduct field work, rear and phenotype copepods, and perform genomic and bioinformatic analyses
- Investigate stickleback adaptive capacity and genetic basis of evolvable traits
- Survey fish and invertebrate communities and quantify lake ecosystem functioning

Requirements
- Master’s degree in Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, Organismal Biology or Environmental Science
- Interest in evolutionary ecology and/or molecular ecology for the copepod project
- Interest in population and/or quantitative genetics for the stickleback genomics project
- Interest in evolutionary ecology and ecosystem sciences for the ecosystem project
- Enjoyment of collaborative and international work and integrating research
